Final Fantasy: Sky Warriors
A downloadable game for Windows
An interesting twist on the background history of the original Final Fantasy! This game will feature what happened 200 years before the original Final Fantasy 1 for the NES, featuring an unexpected cast of characters otherwise known as the 'Sky Warriors' in the canon game. Witness the catastrophe of the four Fiends of Elements making their grand entrance into the Final Fantasy world, and experience the Lufenian response!
Ironed out details using canon story from both the original Final Fantasy 1, the various updates from future re-releases on more modern consoles, and even diving into the history of the Dissidia line of Final Fantasy games in a bold attempt to flesh out a very possible "what if" scenario of the Sky Warriors story. Fans of FF14 will also see some similarities in boss design!
Features!
- Rich 8-Bit NES style graphics
- Classic soundtrack used from the Wonderswan re-release of the classic Final Fantasy meshed with other popular Wonderswan titles and chiptune remixes from other sources
- Full sound effects ported from the original Final Fantasy title for NES
- Painstakingly accurate representations of the Final Fantasy 1 world in its past
- Custom Sprite work by Ocean's Dream
- The return of several original Final Fantasy 1 classes and the majority of the original spell list (with bug fixes from the original NES versions!)
Bugs!
- RPGMaker 2003 is by no means a perfect program, and as such there are a few minor bugs.
- This game has real time battles! Unfortunately, as a result there can be some difficulty when inputting commands if the enemy is taking an action at the same time.
- Sometimes a character will get stuck in a forward position on the battle screen, this sometimes happens with the application/removal of buffs and debuffs. It has no bearing on the game whatsoever and taking a normal attack action with the character or ending the battle should fix this.

i found a glitch? im at the start and just retrived the airship. after going outside to meet cid and head to the next city, i try to enter the air ship, all of a sudden my character starts sprinting south? then a few seconds later i load up in the next city, but my charachter is still running south, and ends up like warping to the other side of the city? i cant move, im stuck perputally heading south.
Sorry to hear the problem! I'll be uploading a patched version here soon (probably within a week or sooner) and will take a look at this event to see what might be causing this before I do. Stay tuned!
Any chance of a mobile port?
I am sorry to say it but unless they release mobile support for RPGMaker 2003, it will remain a PC only title. Perhaps sometime in the distant future when my plate isn't so saturated with work I'd consider making a port to RPGMaker MV, which does have mobile support. But that would essentially mean building it again from the ground up.
You can use EasyRPG player for that
One word to sum up this game: PERFECTION! Illy, you really did your homework and gave FF I so much back story that it is now necessary for me to always play your game before I play through FF I! I give you all the praise in the world and wanted to leave a review on the RPG Maker website, but they shot my reviews down twice because they stated that I "praised your game too much..." as if such a thing can be possible! Again, thanks for the time you put into making this gem that can only be described as a nostalgic MASTERPIECE!
Thanks for the praise!
If you submitted it to rpgmaker.net, yeah they are a bit stricter with their guidelines on reviews. You should be able to find a link (or more likely they should have sent you a message) detailing the proper review details.
This game is great, I didn't get it here but I came here to see if I could make a donation.
I guess that would be a copyright infringement or something like that.
Hey, glad you enjoyed the game! Yeah sadly I'd rather not take donations for games I've made that included copyrighted material, that's why they're free!
If you really wanted to support the game, you could do so by giving it a review either here or on rpgmaker.net!
It seemed pretty well put together, but unfortunately as the time I had to play drew to a close I couldn't save my progress. I checked if I could save outside to no avail.
Hi! It follows the veins of the original FF1, where you can save by staying at an INN or using a tent/cabin/house.
Oh, lol. Ive only ever played the PSP version so I never would've known that! Thanks for letting me know, Ill be sure to give it another go soon! :>
